Sikorsky’s Firehawk saves Los Angeles

Sikorsky Aircraft’s Firehawk helicopter is designed to respond quickly to forest fires in urban environments.

They asked GPA to have our photographer in Los Angeles be on alert in the event of a fire, to capture the crew in action and chronicle the helicopter’s capabilities. Our photographer was in constant contact with the Los Angeles Fire Department and monitored police radio until an opportunity arose. He was spent time with the helicopter’s crew, familiarizing himself with their procedures and protocol so he’d be ready to go on a moment’s notice.

The dramatic images here demonstrate the amazing capabilities of the aircraft and the quick action and bravery of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
